Sydney, October 16th, 2017 – Azoya, a leading turnkey e-commerce solutions and services provider, today announced the appointment of Rania Awad as managing director for Australia and New Zealand. Based in Melbourne, Ms Awad is responsible for driving the company’s business forward in the region, with a particular focus on new market development, business operations excellence, as well as strengthening its ecosystem of local retail customers.

“Rania’s industry reputation, experience, innovation and e-commerce expertise will enhance the solid reputation Azoya holds in the Australian and New Zealand market and drive our business to the next level,” said Don Zhao, executive director and CEO of Overseas Business for Azoya. “Rania’s appointment forms a crucial role in helping local retail businesses take advantage of growing demand from Chinese consumers for high quality and ethical products from Australia.”

Ms Awad brings a deep understanding of the retail pharmacy landscape in Australia and New Zealand to Azoya, as well as experience in fast-consuming retail operations management. She founded a successful pharmacy in Sydney in 2001, followed by Your Chemist Shop in 2004 – a thriving online pharmacy with an enviable yearly growth of 15-20 percent.

In 2014, Your Chemist Shop was acquired by a large pharmacy chain, Pharmacy 4 Less. Ms Awad became the GM of Ecommerce & IT at Pharmacy 4 Less, helping execute its ecommerce strategy. This included successfully launching two of its brands into China’s lucrative health and beauty market.

“Azoya has an incredibly strong offering, solid brand and expansive opportunity for growth, particularly in the health, beauty, mum & baby, fashion and home categories,” said Rania Awad, managing director Australia and New Zealand for Azoya. “As we continue to face a changing competitive landscape and increase our leadership in the cross-border ecommerce market, I’m focused on driving the strategic direction of the business, while delivering innovation and value for our retail customers.”

Azoya’s one-stop solutions and services offer a cost-effective and risk-free approach to help Australian and New Zealand retailers break into the Chinese market. With Azoya doing the ground work in China, retailers can avoid all the nuisances arising from traditional international expansion, such as setting up a local business entity, confusion over government policies and market adaptation. Local retail customers include Sigma Pharmaceuticals (Amcal), Pharmacy Online, Pharmacy 4 Less, Kiwi Discovery and Pharmacy Direct.
