Azoya Launches China E-Commerce Operations for Leading Health Retailer Sporter

Azoya and Sporter will be working together to sell imported health products in China through cross-border e-commerce

Shenzhen, China. August 9, 2019 - Azoya, a leading e-commerce enabler in China, has launched the official China e-commerce operations for Sporter, one of the top retailers of sports supplements in the Middle East.

Azoya will be responsible for the daily maintenance and operations of Sporter's official Chinese website, which is equipped with cross-border e-commerce functions such as cross-border payments, logistics tracking, CDN acceleration, and many other integrations. Day-to-day operations will include marketing, logistics, IT maintenance, merchandising, and more.

Sporter and Azoya both see major demand for health & nutrition products in China, where the market for vitamins and supplements reached over US$3.44 billion in 2017. While an impressive sum, it still pales in comparison to the size of the global sports nutrition industry, which is expected to reach US$52.5 billion by 2020.

"We are very bullish on the sports nutrition industry in China. Only in the last 2-3 years have Chinese people started exercising at the gym and becoming more mindful of their health. China's organic environment lacks arable land and cannot produce certain nutrients, so people have to look abroad for imported products. This is where the opportunity in cross-border e-commerce lies," according to Azoya's VP of International Business Ivy Shen.

Sporter's wide product assortment will appeal to Chinese consumers, who cannot find many health brands in China due to restrictions on general trade and the import of health products. Some products can take several years to be approved by the Chinese Food & Drug Administration (CFDA).
