Woolworths is Australia’s largest supermarket chain and one of its most iconic retailers, having been established in Sydney in 1924. The company operates 3,000 stores and employs over 205,000 team members, selling its wares to over 29 million customers on a weekly basis.
In June 2018, Woolworths inked an initial agreement with Azoya to establish its standalone China brand website - a customized Azoya Commerce solution. Woolworths had earlier established a flagship store on Tmall, but wished to set up its own official website so that it could better tell the story behind its brand and build a stronger connection with its target customers in China.
Australian products have proved to be highly popular with cross-border e-commerce consumers in China, particularly milk powder, health supplements, beauty & cosmetics, and maternity & baby products. Woolworths continues to expand its presence in the China market, which it considers to be a key priority.
